The musical links and extraordinary friendships that began that weekend remain to this day. This year, throughout the festival, Celtic Colours will explore the traditional culture of Ireland and recreate that memorable link with our Celtic cousins on the other island across the pond. We'll begin by returning the favour, and have invited some exceptional Irish Artists. With this concert we bring together the original travelers to Cork and team them up with their counterparts from Ireland. Pianist Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin was instrumental in that original festival. Now head of the Music Department at the University of Limerick, his program is already linked to Cape Breton University's Ethnomusicology program. He will be joined on stage by a full range of Irish artists including Donegal fiddlers, sean nos singers and dancers, the best of accordion and harp players and a host of Cape Breton's finest. This is a rare opportunity to see the best of the two traditions side by side in an exciting musical reunion. Yes! the Irish are coming! Lets welcome them with our famous Cape Breton hospitality.
