Donnie Campbell & Jinks O’Neill

Cape Breton

Donnie Campbell and Jinks (James) O’Neill started performing together in 2014. Both are from Sydney and grew up in musical households. They have travelled extensively with their music—Donnie with folk music and Jinks with rock and roll bands—giving them a vast repertoire of music from the folk revival, ‘50s and ‘60s rock and roll, and classic country, along with the traditional music of Ireland, Scotland, and Cape Breton Island. Donnie, who received the ECMA Stompin’ Tom Award in 2019 and was named the 2020 Canadian Folk Music Awards Slaight Music Unsung Hero, hosts one of the longest running radio programs in Canadian history. Featuring Cape Breton and Atlantic Canadian artists, as well as music from the Celtic Diaspora, Celtic Serenade is broadcast live on The Coast 89.7FM and has a large listenership around the world online. The weekly program will begin its 50th year in October.
