Dwayne Côté

Cape Breton

Fiddler and composer Dwayne Côté was raised in a family deeply-rooted in all aspects of Cape Breton, Irish and Scottish music traditions–his late mother Gladys was a renowned dancer, instructor, and performer and his father, the late Gordon Côté, was a celebrated fiddler and teacher. An international professional musician, Dwayne has been performing since he was four years old and has played all over the world, from Cape Breton to Dubai, and Scotland to Australia. A composer with hundreds of tunes registered with SOCAN, he is recognized as one of the most unique violinists and fiddlers in Atlantic Canada who can easily slide from style to style. Although rooted in the Cape Breton style of fiddling, he can transition to classical and jazz seemingly effortlessly. Dwayne has recorded on a variety of albums and has received numerous nominations and awards from East Coast Music Association, Music Nova Scotia, Music Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Independent Music Awards.
