The Forrester Dancers have been under the direction of champion Highland dancer Eileen Pottie Forrester since 1965. Her daughter Shannon Forrester has been teaching and directing alongside her mother since 1991. Since the early ‘60s, Eileen and her dancers have represented Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and Canada during many International festivals in Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States - which included 22 shows at Walt Disney World’s Epcot main stage. Besides this, the dancers are in heavy demand on a local level regularly performing at nearly every major event, festival, production and fundraiser in the area. Their mandate is to share their Scottish culture worldwide with their multifaceted musical friends. In 2006 their first CD, “Music of Nova Scotia” featured a sampling of the music they have performed in concerts and festivals here and abroad. Representatives of the dance company are thrilled to be invited once again to Celtic Colours showcasing their traditional and specially choreographed Highland, Scottish National, and Celtic Step Dancing. This year the school is celebrating its 50th anniversary and carrying on the family tradition that has existed now for 70 years!
