Kristen Shaw is a fiddler from Margaree Valley, Inverness County, Cape Breton Island who now resides in Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton. She was taught by her one and only teacher, her father, Kelly Shaw. However, Kelly was taught by the late John MacDougall, a Cape Breton composer and fiddler. Kristen started playing at the age of 8, and has now been playing for 13 years. Throughout the years she has performed in concerts, festivals, dances and at other venues throughout Cape Breton like the Broad Cove Scottish Concert and Celtic Colours. Kristen has performed regularly at the Normaway Inn and Glenora Distillery, and has also performed at the Red Shoe Pub and Baddeck Gathering Ceilidhs. A member of the Cape Breton Fiddlers' Association and part of the Feis Mhabu Musical Mentorship Program, Kristen recorded her self-titled debut album in the Spring of 2014 at Lakewind Sound Studios.
