Mckayla MacNeil began playing the violin when she was five years old. Growing up in St. Peter’s, she has been influenced by many instructors through the progression of her musical career; she has studied both classical violin and traditional Cape Breton fiddle with Kyle MacNeil. She is a dedicated member of the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association, having performed with them at the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, across the U.K. and Scotland, as well as Ottawa and Boston. You will often see her playing around the island at ceilidhs and local benefits. Mckayla has bridged her musical career with a Master’s Degree in Audiology, where you may run into her if you find you are having a hard time hearing the tunes!
