Pepeto Pinto

Quebec

Hailing from the beautiful Caribbean island of Jamaica, Pepeto Pinto brings a whole new sound to the Celtic world: the Celtic steel pan. Performing on steel drums which he handcrafted himself, this unique musician has mastered his instrument and has brought it to new and exciting levels. Before moving to Canada, Pepeto had performed and taught extensively in Jamaica where he could be seen performing with his hit band Versonic Vibes, including at the International Jazz & Blues Festival in Montego Bay.

After a three year cultural immersion in the Acadian community of Cheticamp, Cape Breton, Pepeto was able to authentically reproduce the music of the greatest fiddlers of our time. He has performed on stage with the late Jerry Holland, as well as with other prominent Celtic players such as Richard Wood, Troy MacGillivray, and Maybelle Chisholm McQueen. Pepeto is now pursuing a career as a musician and instrument maker in Montreal, Quebec, where he lives with his wife Nathalie.
