Tim Edey

UK

Tim Edey is one of the world’s finest guitarists and melodeon players – he also plays a variety of instruments to an astonishing level including piano, banjo, and whistles. In addition to this Tim has a superb singing voice. He made his first Celtic Colours appearance in 2010 to universal acclaim and has delighted crowds everywhere every time he has been back. Tim was named Musician of the Year at the BBC ALBA/Scotland Trad Music Awards in 2020, and BBC Radio 2 Musician of the Year and Best Duo with Brendan Power in 2012. He has toured the world and recorded with most of the major names in Celtic/Contemporary roots music including The Chieftains, Sharon Shannon, Natalie MacMaster, Altan, Capercaillie, Dougie MacLean, The Barra MacNeils, J.P. Cormier, Lunasa, and Julie Fowlis. Now a name on the world stage in his own right, Tim’s solo shows are a stunning mix of world music, inspired instrumental virtuosity, and passion making for a highly entertaining night of musical genius. A mixture of dazzling technical ability, soulful feel, musical charisma, and amazing instrumental improvisation have made Tim a highly in-demand session musician both in studio and on stage. He will be playing at Celtic Colours this year with Irish traditional singer Iarla Ó Lionáird.
