Kimberley Fraser featured artist on Episode #7 of Suas E!

We’re back with Episode #7 of our new video podcast *Suas E! Celebrating Cape Breton Island’s living Celtic culture*.

This week one of Cape Breton’s most accomplished young fiddlers, pianists and step dancers, Kimberley Fraser, joins us to discuss her current performing and teaching endeavors, her formative years as a traditional artist, and the impact of musical institutions Berklee College of Music and Up Home Tonight on her career.

We’ll conclude the episode with a charming vignette featuring Willie Francis Fraser who tells us about the step dancing teacher who would visit him in his childhood dreams.

2014 Venues and Communities announced

Celtic Colours International Festival invites you to join us October 10-18 and experience all that Cape Breton Island has to offer. This year’s Festival includes 46 concerts presented at 40 venues in 32 communities and more than 200 community cultural events in nearly 60 communities throughout Cape Breton Island.

Listed below are this year’s concert venues and communities. The complete schedule for 2014 will be released June 23. Tickets go on sale July 7.

Suas E! New podcast celebrates our living Celtic culture

We are very excited to announce the release of our new video podcast Suas E! Celebrating Cape Breton Island’s living Celtic Culture. Hosted by Celtic Colours’ Artistic Director Dawn Beaton, each episode will be about 30 minutes long and will feature interviews with, and performances by, local artists and friends of the festival. We’ll conclude each episode with a pre-produced piece including live performances from our 2013 Festival and vignettes from recent interviews with some of our most distinguished culture bearers.

New episodes will be released every second Thursday. Many thanks are due to our project partners at Cape Breton University’s Centre for Cape Breton Studies and Nova Scotia’s Department of Communities Culture and Heritage.
