St. Ann’s, Nova Scotia- The Celtic Colours International Festival is the number one event in Canada, according to one of North America’s leading tourism organizations. In an announcement made public today, the American Bus Association names the celebration of Celtic music and culture Canada’s top event. Since 1998 the festival has been listed as one of the top one hundred events in North America. For 2000, the festival adds recognition as Canada’s premier event to that designation.
Scott MacAuley, of Cape Breton Resorts, says the news is welcome but not surprising, “We’re pleased and excited to know Celtic Colours is being recognized as a premier event. The economic effects of this festival have been good news for Cape Breton business since it began and we’re happy to be participating this year.”

An exciting array of young talent, like Scotland’s Filska and Blazing Fiddles, Slainte Mhath, and Kilt, provides festival goers an opportunity to see some thrilling performances new to the world stage. While the best of Cape Breton’s local talent, such as J.P. Cormier, John Allan Cameron, and Tracey Dares are set to show the world why Cape Breton remains a thriving source of musical excellence.
