St. Ann’s, NS – It’s official! Three shows in the Celtic Colours 2000 schedule are sold out. With ticket sales soaring past previous records, all indications point to a very successful festival. The Waters of Iona, Step into the Past at the Fortress of Louisbourg, and The Giant’s Ceilidh at Englishtown are the first three events to sell all their available seats.
Ticket sales revenues are up approximately 49% over the same period in 1999. These strong results represent sales that are two weeks ahead of last year’s schedule.
Angus Macleod, a representative of Comunn Féis A’ Bhaile, the hosting organization for The Giant’s Ceilidh show in Englishtown, is pleasantly surprised with the sales, “We sold out last year too, but it took us right up until that night; the last tickets went at the door.” MacLeod welcomes this year’s early success, “I’m pleased and gratified that The Giant’s Ceilidh is so popular. I think it (the sales) means that the message is getting out, and that people really want to come to our smaller communities and party with us.”
There are still tickets available for the remaining thirty-two shows, but Celtic Colours organizers are encouraging everyone who wishes to attend the festival, particularly those from the local area who have been able to purchase tickets at the door in past years, to buy their tickets early. Tickets are available by calling Select A Seat at 1-888-355-7744 or 902-564-6668. Tickets may also be purchased in the local communities through the various hosting organizations.
