Celtic Colours has record opening sales

(Sydney, NS) “Got
Em!!!!!! …What a line-up!!!!” This was the comment of one American
ticket buyer on the record first day of sales to this year’s Celtic
Colours International Festival.

Tickets went on sale July 10th at 9am ADT for the tenth anniversary
edition of the October event. One minute later, all phone lines and the
festival’s internet server were jammed.

“We’ve never seen anything like it,” said festival co-director Max
MacDonald. “We seem to have struck a chord with visitors for our
anniversary programming. While this is fantastic news, my only concern
is that local ticket buyers may not be aware of the demand.”

One example of the unprecedented demand for tickets is the fact that
the Step Into the Past performance at the Fortress Louisbourg sold out
the first day.

“Sales are up 40% for the first week compared to last year,” said
MacDonald. “We hope that local fans won’t wait until October to get
tickets to see their favorite artists because they may be very
disappointed.”

The Celtic Colours International Festival has been the ECMA Event of
the Year for the past two years and will run from October 6-14. This
year the festival features artists from Canada, the U.S., England,
Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Spain and Denmark.
