Celtic Colours in 2 hour CBC Radio documentary

CBC
RADIO TWO PROGRAMMING FEATURES 2006 CELTIC COLOURS INTERNATIONAL
FESTIVAL IN “VOICES OF THE CELTS – A FAMILY REUNION” ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER
27 AT 8 P.M.

CBC Radio Two brings its listeners the opportunity
to experience the excitement of this year’s Celtic Colours
International Festival, held earlier this month in Cape Breton. VOICES
OF THE CELTS – A FAMILY REUNION, a two-hour special, featuring
recordings from the festival, airs on Friday, October 27 at 8 p.m.
Well-known singer-songwriter, David Francey, hosts the show.

For the first time in this region, CBC Radio and Radio-Canada have
teamed up to record and produce musical documentary programming. CBC
Halifax producer Glenn Meisner, Radio-Canada producer Agathe Arsenault,
and a radio crew traveled around Cape Breton earlier this month and
recorded performances and interviews in Sydney, Whycocomagh, Cheicamp,
Glendale and Mabou. “VOICES OF THE CELTS – A FAMILY REUNION will take
our listeners on a musical, cultural, and geographical journey around
Cape Breton Island celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Celtic
Colours International Festival,” says Meisner. “We will not only
present concert performances from several venues, but we’ll also take
our audience behind the scenes to meet the performers,” he adds.

The performances featured a fantastic line-up of national and
international artists including Carlos Núñez (Spain); Ferintosh (USA);
Haugaard and Høirup (Denmark); Phil Cunningham & Aly Bain
(Scotland); Beolach (Cape Breton); Lennie Gallant (PEI); J. P. Cormier
(Cape Breton); Anna Massie Band (Scotland); Troy MacGillivray (Nova
Scotia); Ishbel MacAskill (Scotland); Bachue (Scotland); Archie Fisher
(Scotland) and The Unusual Suspects of Celtic Colours (Europe &
North America).

CBC Radio Two can be found in Halifax at 102.7 FM; in Sydney at 105.1
FM; in Charlottetown at 104.7 FM, in Fredericton and Saint John at
101.5; and in Moncton at 95.5 FM. You can tune in online at CBC RADIO 2.

Radio-Canada plans to feature programming from these recordings on Espace Musique at a later date.
