Sydney, NS – Cherish the Ladies, the most sought-after Irish American group in Celtic music history, will be visiting Cape Breton Island for Celtic Colours International Festival 1999.
“This group is one of the hottest items in the Celtic music industry,” says Joella Foulds of Rave Entertainment. “Cherish the Ladies will certainly be a hit at the Festival and we are very pleased to have them here.”
Awards and accomplishments of band members Joannie Madden, Mary Rafferty, Mary Coogan, Donna Long, Siobhan Egan and Aoife Clancy both individually and collectively are too numerous to mention. They are the only group to be invited back to each and every Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow where they were given the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall’s International Group of the Year Award. This year they were also named Entertainment Group of the Year by the Irish Voice Newspaper.
Cherish the Ladies have recorded seven highly acclaimed albums and appeared on television and radio on both sides of the Atlantic. Over the past year they have traveled all over North and South America, the United Kingdom and Europe.
They’ll be performing October 8 in the Opening Gala at the Savoy Theatre, October 9 at The Armories in Sydney and October 10 at SAERC in Port Hawkesbury. A group not to be missed.
Cherish The Ladies will also be featured at the “Celtic Women” show on Sunday, October 10 at SAERC in Port Hawkesbury along with Ishbel MacAskill, Margaret Bennett, Frances Black, Mary Jane Lamond, Mairi MacInnes, Christena Smith & Jean Hewson and Winnie Chafe.
Celtic Colours International Festival tickets are available at Centre 200, the Savoy Theatre and UCCB’s Boardmore Playhouse, Centre Bras d’Or in Baddeck, Glace Bay Pharmasave or by calling the Select-A-Seat Hotline at 564-6668.
