Queen of the Highlands Newsletter – issue 1

We just wanted to come up for air long enough to say hello and let you know how we’re doing. We will also attempt to do this on a regular basis to keep you in touch will latest developments at the festival.

We know that many of you will be travelling from a great distance and we are committed to getting more information to you sooner this year in order to help you make travel plans. The present plan calls for us to announce the full Festival line-up on June 16th at a gala dinner at the Gaelic College. (More on that soon.) We will post the line-up following the dinner on June 16th.

There is a Board meeting this Saturday (Apr.21) where the venue selection and schedule will be finalized. We should be able to post this information next week.. After that we will be releasing show concept information as it is ready. This will lead up to the full line-up being posted on June 16th.

Celtic Connections

We had a wonderful experience attending the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow in January. Saw many friends of Celtic Colours and heard some amazing talent that we will be bringing here in October. We also spent a magical night at Dougie MacLean’s Real Music Bar in Dunkeld. Dougie did a great job of hosting a concert with Buddy MacMaster, Dave MacIsaac, Joey Beaton and Betty Lou Beaton. The session in the pub later was awesome as well!

The Celtic Colours International Festival has been named the Top Event in Canada for 2001 by the American Bus Association. We have also been nominated as the Top Canadian Cultural Attraction by Attractions Canada. The winners will be announced on May 23rd.
