The Song and the Songsmith
Strathspey Place, Mabou, 7:30 PM, Tickets: $35/30/25, Reserved SeatingSome people just have a way with words and a knack for pairing them with just the right melodies. These five songwriters from Newfoundland, Cape Breton and Nova Scotia are among the very best. Newfoundland's Ron Hynes is known as "the man of a thousand songs" for good reason. His songs have become part of the vernacular of Canadian folk music. Over the last couple of years, Old Man Luedecke has established himself as one of Canada’s best loved and most intriguing roots singer-songwriters. Ronald Bourgeois is recognized among his peers as one of Acadie's premiere singer-songwriters while Lewis MacKinnon is well known internationally for his Gaelic poetry and songs. And Cyril MacPhee's quick wit, clear voice and musical versatility that combine for a truly unique blend of folk, country and Celtic music. With these five songsmiths, you will witness skilled craftsmen doing what they do best.
Prior to the show in the nearby Mabou Hall, they'll be serving up "Chicken Dinner". More details can be found in the Community Meals section.
