Women of Song

St. Andrew's United Church, Sydney, 7:30 PM, Tickets: $30/25, Reserved Seating

It doesn’t seem to matter what tradition you come from, when women get together they sing. Tonight in the beautiful St. Andrew's United Church we present eight outstanding women singers from a wide range of traditions: Scottish, Appalachian, Acadian, Gaelic and Cape Breton. With the leadership of Scotland’s Karine Polwart, the women will share their songs and collaborate with each other for some heavenly harmonies. Karine led our Coming Home songwriting project in 2008 and her wide experience with collaborations includes Appalachian singer Sheila Kay Adams. They will re-connect along with three Gaelic singers who live and work in different parts of the world. Sylvia Le Lievre joins with her rich Acadian voice while Emily Smith and Fiona MacGillivray bring both youth and tradition. The result is guaranteed to feed the soul.
