Thursday October 16th
Greenwood United Church, Baddeck – 7:30 PM, Tickets: $25, General Admission
A wealth of beautiful and new string sounds will ring out in this lovely little church in Baddeck. The Fretless is a quartet from British Columbia made up of three fiddles and a cello. They take string music to fascinating new places, transforming fiddle tunes and folk melodies into intricate and exciting arrangements. Adam Sutherland’s fiddle compositions such as “Road to Errogie” are played world-wide. His acclaim as part of Treacherous Orchestra, Session A9 and Peatbog Fairies have made him one of Scotland’s most exciting young fiddle players. He brings along his friend, pianist and singer Hamish Napier, whose soulful voice is unforgettable. Our own Dwayne Côté has been deemed one of the most unique violinists in Atlantic Canada. Always a favourite at Celtic Colours and abroad, tonight he teams up with his singer/songwriter brother Roger Stone. It will be a tossup whether the strings or the ballads will touch you more. Be still my heart!
