The Cape Breton Fiddlers

Saturday October 18th

Colaisde Na Gàidhlig/Gaelic College, St. Ann's – 2:00 PM, Tickets: $30/25, Reserved Seating

After forty years of preserving and building the repertoire of Cape Breton fiddle players, the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association holds a special place in our hearts. From the very young to the most senior members, more than 100 in all, they provide a critical role in our culture. In fact, they have been credited with keeping the Cape Breton fiddle tradition alive. But regardless of their dedication to our traditions, they are always open to new fiddle music. This year at their annual concert they welcome guests from the West Coast. The Fretless is a quartet of string players with a fresh and distinct sound. With three fiddles and a cello, they manage to transform fiddle tunes and folk melodies into intricate, beautiful arrangements. They have been winning a lot of awards lately and now they are about to win some new friends. Fiddle enthusiasts are in for a delight.
