Sunday October 12th
Whycocomagh Education Centre, Whycocomagh – 7:30 PM, Tickets: $30/25, Reserved Seating
Old friends and new friends share their music and songs at this gathering in Whycocomagh. Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas have recorded three albums together as they explore the cello’s historical role at the rhythmic heart of Scottish dance music. Swedish trio Väsen has been playing music together for more than 20 years. They played at Celtic Colours for the first time last year and they return more as old friends than new ones. Songwriter David Francey has made many friends in Cape Breton during Celtic Colours over the years and his songs are very welcome at any gathering. Cape Breton cousins Glenn Graham and Rodney MacDonald grew up with fiddles in their hands. They played together for years, first learning from uncle Kinnon and later recording and touring together. Tunes from Glenn and Rodney and Gaelic songs from Goiridh Dòmhnallach and his son Pàdruig make the gathering complete.
