Is there a map of the communities around the island where the different events will be held? I’m planning my first trip to Cape Breton and need to get my bearings so I can book accomodations close to the entertainment I want to see.

Will be in Sydney on Monday, Oct. 8 from 7 am to 3 pm, on the Norwegian Gem cruise ship. Will there be any events at that time within walking distance of the port? I was on the same cruise last year and had rented a car and drove to some of the venues. This year our time in port is much shorter and we might not rent a car. Thanks!

      Hi Linda,

Thanks for your interest in Celtic Colours. Glad to hear you’re coming back to visit Cape Breton.

Our Shows schedule for Monday, October 8th can be found here – http://www.celtic-colours.com/october-8/ and our Community Cultural Events schedule for that day can be found here – http://www.celtic-colours.com/cc-events-by-day/cce-october-8th/

While that day is jam packed with shows and cultural events the only one that is within walking distance would be a squaredance workshop in Downtown Sydney – http://www.celtic-colours.com/workshops/red-river-jig-squaredance-workshop/

Hope that helps Linda! Please give us a call at 1-877-285-2321 if you have any further questions.

Thanks so much for your quick reply, Devon! I think that I’m going to have to make plans to fly to Halifax in 2013 and drive to Cape Breton. The time the ship is in port in Sydney is much too short!

Some of my family would be interested in this but wonder if there will be any available package tours that would capture a lot of these things if they were not necessarily comfortable renting a car and driving from place to place? It would be cool to have a bus and arrangements with hotels so that folks could leave all of the planning to someone else.

    Hi Kirk,

Thank you for your interest in our Festival. We understand that the our comprehensive schedule can seem a bit overwhelming. Unfortunately due to the number of venues hosting shows all around the Island it would be difficult to provide organized group transportation at a reasonable cost.

If your group was interested in taking in a variety of our events I would recommend situating yourselves in the beautiful village of Baddeck. Once there you will be able to take in a whole host of events that take place during the week of the Festival with minimal travel. You can see all that takes place in and around Baddeck by visiting this section of our website: http://www.celtic-colours.com/tag/baddeck-and-area/

With seven pages of events I am sure you’ll be able to find a few that appeal to you. If you have any further questions or would like to book tickets please give us a ring on our toll free line. We would be more than happy to assist you in your travel plans.
