Join us for a lecture on Cape Breton Step Dance and the importance of the Nova Scotia Gaidhealtachd to its study from John Gibson. This lecture series is named in memory of the late Joe Neil MacNeil (Eòs Nìll Bhig) one of Cape Breton’s foremost Gaelic storytellers in recent times. The lecture will take place in the tuning room. Refreshments served.

Bobbin Lace Demonstration

Bobbin lace takes its name from the way it is made: on a firm pillow to which a pricked-out
pattern is tacked and each twist of the wooden bobbins is held in place by a pin. It is interesting to watch. Drop in to see artist Suzanne Craig as she hand weaves lace using this centuries-old technique.

Celtic Quilt Guild Annual Show & Sale

This is an exhibition and sale of bed quilts, small quilts and other items made by the guild’s 37 members. Some are world-renowned quilters such as Anne Morrell Robinson. This is the group’s 10th exhibition, which is usually held in June… so this year the Celtic Colours audience has a special opportunity to check it out.
