Using natural dyes to add colour to the cloth and yarns that pioneer women made was an important aspect of 19th century life. If you have ever wondered what materials were used to produce such a wide range of hues, please join us for an afternoon of wool dying. Participants will learn about various dyeing techniques and will be able to dip a few skeins of their own. Pre-registration required. Workshop is open to all ages.

Celtic Conversations: Fiddle and Guitar for the Irish Session

The session” is the heart and soul of traditional Irish music and anyone, from beginners to professionals, may join in to such gatherings. Although “the Irish session” can be the ultimate rewarding experience, players should be aware of some dos and don’ts. By the end of this workshop, you should be familiar with basic session etiquette and understand how to put tune sets together. We will also discuss tune choice – distinguishing between some ‘overplayed’ session tunes and some cool and hip ones.
